Kallady college ragging: Governor seek report

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Justice P Sathasivam has sought a report on the ragging incident in Kallady MES college in which a student had lost his eyesight.

He has sought the report through Calicut University vice-chancellor. Mannarkkad police had filed a case against eight students, accused in the incident, under various non-bailable charges like attempt to murder and ragging. 

The accused in the case are eight students namely Naufal, Shanil, Suhail, Rishan, Jauhar, Jabir, Ashif and Anas. They had been known as Mooppan’s group in the college. 

An anti-ragging committee meeting held at the college on Friday had recommended the college authority to suspend six students and dismiss two (Shanil and Noufal) who had such criminal background. 

The student, whose eye was injured,  is a first year BCom student and Ibrahim’s son Muhammad Mooz (19).
