THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has said in a statement that Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Games CEO Jacob Punnose should be ready to return the money they had “spent extravagantly in the name of Games.” “In this case, they cannot wash their hands of the issue by blaming actor Mohanlal and instead, follow his ideal, by returning the money.
“The ploy of the government to conceal the corruption and extravaganza in the Games by blaming Mohanlal will not work. From the beginning of the Games, the minister and officials under him have been creating records in corruption. It has been revealed earlier that there was corruption in arranging venues, procuring equipment for Games, and paying Rs 10 crore to an event management company under a prominent newspaper group,” he said.
He added that there is also corruption in allocating Rs 15 crore for opening-closing ceremonies and expending Rs 70 lakh for National theme song of just three-minute duration.
