ALAPPUZHA: New CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Monday that Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan was not branded as anti-CPM in the resolution passed by the State Secretariat. It just criticised VS for his anti-CPM attitude.
He was speaking to media persons after being elected as the new State party chief. He added that the party had no intention to make corrections in the resolution passed against VS.
Kodiyeri said: V S Achuthanandan could have explained his stand in the party secretariat on Sunday. But he didn’t turn up even after a request made by party general secretary. It was unbecoming of him to lay preconditions for returning to the conference. The condition that he would return if his demands are met doesn’t suit a communist cadre. Nevertheless, all due consideration will be given to VS. Even now, he can and has the right to take part in the committee and for that, he need not be a State Committee member; after all he is a Central Committee member. A seat was left vacant in the State committee to help the party take an appropriate decision later. VS is a senior leader and he is still the party’s hope.
Kodiyeri said that the party would intensify its strike against Central State government’s “anti-people policies”. The chief minister should prevent Finance Minister K M Mani from presenting the budget, or else the government will have to face a massive mass agitation. He didn’t forget to add that Left-led agitations in the past including the Solar scam agitation were never a failure.
“ I have been entrusted with a big responsibility. The Kerala unit of the party was formed with P Krishna Pillai as Secretary. Great personalities like him and Pinarayi had guided the party till now. People and the party have bestowed great trust on me and try my level best to raise to the occasion,” he said.
