Church row not acceptable: Ignatius Aphrem II

KOCHI: Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church,  has said that any kind of argument between Orthodox and Jacobite churches were not acceptable. All differences of opinion should be solved through talks, he said on Saturday at a press conference in Kochi where he was on his nine-day visit.

He said he was ready to initiate talks in order to solve church row. “Issues can’t be solved through cases. The believers of both churches are of the same blood. A majority of them are hoping for peace. I won’t interfere in the local issues of the churches,” he said.
Despising all kinds of communalism, the patriarch said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure communal harmony.
