THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state panel member M V Jayarajan, sentenced to four weeks in jail for his derogatory remarks against a high court judge, has been released from jail. Jayarajan who came out of the Poojappura Central Jail at 11 am was accorded a warm welcome by his supporters.
Jayarajan, was sentenced to six months in jail in November 2011 by the High Court for contempt of court, but the politician moved the Supreme Court against the order. The top court upheld the high court's sentence but reduced his punishment.
Meantime, Jayarajan told reporters that the court punished him in a biased manner. However, he asked who will punish the judge for calling him an insect.
The stand of the Lok Ayuktha in the Pattoor case is surprising, he said.
