Free Entrance coaching for fishermen’s children
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister K Babu has announced that Rs 54,16,300 has been sanctioned for Vidhyatheeram scheme that envisages free medical entrance coaching for children of fisherman community. 50 students will get a scholarship of Rs 108326 each.
The minister made this announcement while inaugurating the welfare schemes and award distribution function co-organised by Fisheries department and Fishermen welfare board.
Vidhyatheeram will implement residential coaching project in association with Pala Brilliant Study Centre. The students will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Accommodation, food, tuition and coaching fee will be included in the project. The mess allowance of Fisheries Technical school students will be made Rs 2000.
Fishermen's children will get all the concessions enjoyed by SC/ST students. All financial concessions will be made available through their bank accounts, according to the minister.
