Sunday, May 22, 2011: A court here on Saturday stayed the screening and distribution of the film Adaminte Makan Abu (Abu, son of Adam) which just won four national awards.
The court issued the interim stay following a petition filed by Ashraf Bedi, the co-producer of the movie, who complained that director Salim Ahmmed sent the movie to the National Film Corporation for the award without mentioning his name as a producer.
A criminal petition filed by Ashraf at the Kozhikode Judicial Magistrate Court IV said the director “betrayed” him by not including his name as the film’s producer.
Among other awards, the film, a narrative of a man’s pursuit of religion, won the award for the best feature film and its star Salim Kumar shared the best actor’s honour with Tamil actor Dhanush.
