District Collector Dinesh Arora issued directives to ease traffic congestion

Saturday, May 28, 2011: The district administration is planning to crack down on unauthorized rallies and demonstrations, illegal sales outlets and erection of advertisement boards and banners in public places.
District Collector Dinesh Arora said that stern action would be taken to deter such unauthorized activities. He said that the Kerala Land Conservancy Act would be invoked for the purpose.
Under the provisions of the Act, offenders face imprisonment and fine up to Rs.2 lakh. Arora has also issued directives to ease traffic congestion and ensure streamlined vehicular movement in the district.
The agencies responsible for constructing bus stands, bus bays and footpaths will have to secure sanction from the District Road Safety Committee or the Collector.
Permission for road surfacing, restoration, tar cutting would be given only on the basis of applications specifying the details of construction and the date and time of the work. The agency would have to display the permit and the details of the work at the site.
