Monday, May 23, 2011: 13 new ministers took oath of office today taking the strength of UDF ministry led by Oommen Chandy to 20. The swearing-in took place amidst confusion prevailing in the UDF camp following the surprise announcement of the fifth minister by Muslim League. Nine of the new ministers belong to the Congress camp, while three are from the Muslim League and PJ Joseph, representing KC (M). The new ministers took oath according to the alphabetical order.
Six of the ministers are new to the job, while three of them PK Jayalakshmi, CN Balakrishnan and VS Sivakumar (All from Congress) gets the luck to serve as ministers in their maiden entry to the state assembly.
