Wednesday, May 25, 2011: CPM State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today opined that the campaigning led by former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan had helped the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the April 13 Assembly polls. Pinarayi was speaking to the reporters at a press meet held here on Wednesday.
During the LDF rule, CPM veteran Achuthanandan was able to attain acceptability among people as a Chief Minister and through his anti corruption campaigning, Pinarayi added.
The remarkable late surge created by Chief Minister Achuthanandan’s anti-corruption campaign has helped the party to improve the party’s performance. The LDF bagged 68 seats in the 140-member assembly, narrowly missing returning to power.
