Thursday, May 26, 2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said that the District Collectors should make interventions if the situation demands it. The Chief Minister said that the laws and norms should not come in the way for ensuring justice to the people.
For this, the collectors will have total backing of the government, said the Chief Minister who was addressing a meeting of the district collectors here.
Chandy said that a cell will be formed to oversee the plan implementation and that the chief secretary has been authorized to do it. The collectors will also have the charge of the implementation of the new rehabilitation packages.
He also added that that the paucity of sand is another one of the issues faced by the state. He asked the collectors to take steps to overcome it without harming the environment.
