The results of the State Medical entrance examinations were announced by State Education Minister PK Abdurub jeer on Tuesday. Irfan from Malappuram bagged the first rank in the medical entrance exams conducted this year. N Shammy from Kollam and P Ashita from Ernakulam bagged the second and third ranks respectively.
Staff Reporter writes from Malappuram: Irfan was a student at P.K.M.M. Higher Secondary School, Edarikode. Hailing from Mattathur, near Kottakkal, Irfan cracked the entrance test in his second attempt. He was given coaching at P.C. Thomas's institute in Thrissur.
Irfan's father, V. Mohammed Kutty, died in a road accident three years ago. He was head of the Department of Chemistry at Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage College, Tirurangadi. His mother, Kadeeja, is a housewife. Irfan has three brothers and a sister.

The results were announced by Education Minister P K Abdu Rab held here yesterday. The results will be available on to www.cee-kerala.org. In the medical entrance examinations 64, 814 students have qualified out of which 44,441 are girls and 20,373 are boys.
Boys have bagged majority of the top honours in the medical entrance test held in April. Boys have won seven of the first 10 ranks, including the first rank, in the general category.
 The marks secured by the candidates in the engineering entrance test have been published, but the rank list will be published only after putting together the marks obtained in the qualifying Plus Two examination.

The five other rank-holders in the general category are V.B. Zacharias, Karthika Sabu, V.A. Krishnanunni, S. Anandha Vishnu, and M.A. Ahammed.
