Wednesday 18 May 2011: Shibu Baby John, son of late Baby John, is a new face in the United Democratic Front Ministry. He is becoming a Minister for the first time though he had been elected to the state assembly in 2001.
General Secretary of Kerala Revolutionary Socialist Party-Baby John (KRSP-B), Shibu Baby John won the Chavara Assembly constituency in Kollam District with 65,002 votes. He won by a margin of 6,061 votes over his immediate rival N K Premachandran of RSP who was a minister in the CPM-led LDF.
He graduated in B Tech from TKM College of Engineering. After his studies he ventured into the export business. In 2001 Assembly elections, he contested from Chavara Constituency with RSP ticket and won the election.
But in 2006 elections, he lost to N K Premachandran. His wife is Annie John and the couple has two children– Achu Baby John and Amar Sebastian John.
