Thursday 19 May 2011: Senior Congress leader V.D. Satheesan is almost certain to find a berth in the Oommen Chandy Cabinet, while Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan will be the Speaker.
Sources in the Congress said the names of the two leaders were cleared this evening during the process of finalising the list of Congress Ministers. Satheesan’s portfolio was yet to be decided and would depend on the final composition of the Congress’ team of Ministers.
Chandy held a series of discussions with various Congress leaders regarding his Congress team. He is expected to leave for Delhi today for further discussions with the party high command. He is expected to meet the Prime Minister and AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
Satheesan was first elected in 2001 from Paravur and made his mark as a serious and well-studied legislator.
