Again quick verification ordered against Mani

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance court has ordered quick verification against former Finance Minister K M Mani in another case, which follows a similar order against him in the bar case. The latest order is based on a complaint that there was corruption in the mass wedding conducted by the Kerala Congress.

The mass wedding was conducted in October, 2014 at Kottayam Mamman Mappila Hall as part of the party’s Golden Jubilee celebration. 150 weddings were conducted on that day. In the complaint given by one Navaz, it was said that Mani had spent the bar bribe money to meet the expenses of the wedding. Each married couple was given five sovereign gold and one and half lakh rupee. Couples were men and women selected from 14 districts.

Discussions and announcements, mooting K M Mani to the post of chief minister, were also held during this period. But all these developments finally led to a point when Mani got trapped in bar bribery allegation.  This shook up the UDF. Incidentally, the CPM also allegedly tried to befriend Mani.
