Vigilance letter seeks asset details of political leaders

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance has given a letter to the income tax department seeking the asset details of political leaders soon after a disproportionate assets case was registered against former excise minister K Babu. Vigilance director Jacob Thomas’ letter has demanded the details of the deposits of politicians in private money lending firms. The vigilance had earlier conducted a similar raid in Muthoot Group firms. The vigilance is planning to continue this act.

The vigilance had confiscated some documents of the land dealings in Theni from Babu’s house in the raid held. Not only that, his personal assistant Nanda Kumar had started a money lending firm soon after Babu was sworn in Minister. The vigilance will probe this also. The vigilance is planning to conduct raids in private money lending firms.
