Mani moves HC seeking quashing of FIR

KOCHI: Former finance minister and Kerala Congress (M) chairman K M Mani approached the Kerala High Court seeking quashing of an FIR lodged by the vigilance accusing him of granting tax concessions to Thomson Group, a poultry import company in Thrissur.

Mani has also requested tocancel the case granting tax concession to cosmetics product companies. Senior advocate M K Damodaran appeared for Mani in the court.

Mani in his plea had pointed that he has not granted illegal tax concession to any company. The assembly had passed the directives on the tax announced in the budget. The case registered now is a vindictive attitude. The court directed the government to inform their stand. The case will be considered again on September 19.

The vigilance registered a case against Mani on the complaint of former leader advocate Noble Mathew of the Kerala Congress alleging corruption allegation against Mani. He alleged that Mani had accepted a bribe of Rs 15.5 crore in two dealings.
