THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The phone tapping allegation of KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala witnessed some noisy scenes on the first day of the Kerala Assembly session which started Monday. The ruling and opposition members created uproar on the issue during question hour. T V Rajesh of the opposition made a statement on it.
The logjam started when the ruling members stood up and opposed to Rajesh’s statement that Chennithala had told NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair that his phone has been tapped.
Elamaram Kareem came up with another allegation when Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told the assembly that nobody’s phone has been tapped. Kareem alleged that the police are tapping phones with the help of some machines at a rented house in Peroorkada. Noisy scenes were witnessed when Kareem said that nobody is aware why the house was rented and no boards are also seen.
Thiruvanchoor while replying said such machines are banned and nothing of that sort has happened. Chennithala has not lodged a complaint either to the minister or to the police. Phones of political leaders or opponents have not been tapped and this is not the policy of the UDF Government, he said. As the time of the question hour was over, the assembly proceeded to the next procedure.
