Vegetable banks to be opened in all districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Horticulture Mission and the Horticorp has decided to start “vegetable banks” in all districts to promote the sales of vegetables and also to overcome its price rise.

While about 100 outlets will be installed in Thiruvananthapuram district, 25 to 30 outlets will be started in other districts.

One of the outlets in Thiruvananthapuram city will be opened at Palayam on Monday. More banks will be opened at district and taluk centres.

According to the Agriculture Department, price of vegetables will fall once they are made available through these banks.
