Three of family killed in accident

KOZHIKODE: Three members of a family hailing from Keezhariyoor were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a private bus at Mannooppara, near Iringal, in Vadakara on Wednesday evening. The victims were identified as Thaikkandi Babu Kannan, 49; his sister Girija Rajan, 47; and her son Vishnu Narayanan, 21. Four others, including two children, from the family sustained injuries in the accident and were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital. The condition of two of them was critical, the police said. Girija Rajan was a teacher at Vasudevashram High School at Keezhariyoor, and Vishnu Narayanan was pursuing his BDS at a college in Bangalore. The family was on a trip to Vadakara. The victims were taken out from the vehicle by a police team from the Payyoli station and Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Koyilandy.
