According to Hindu mythology it’s believed that it was on the day of Akshaya Tritiya that the Treta Yuga commenced and the holy river Ganges descended to the earth from heaven.Akshaya Tritiya is also traditionally revered to as the birthday of Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Last year, Akshaya Tritiya was on May 16 and the gold price on May 17 was `18,265 per ten grams. This year, as on May 4, the cost is `22,265 per ten grams.
