KOCHI: UDF candidate Anoop Jacob will be declared winner in a short time when the counting of votes in the bypolls held in Piravom are progressing at the Nirmala Junior School in Moovattupuzha. When votes in 132 booths were counted, Anoop is leading by 11,926 votes. The counting of votes Piravam Assembly seat began at the Nirmala Junior School at Muvattupuzha at 8 am to decide the fate of ruling Congress led- UDF candidate Anoop Jacob and Opposition led CPI(M)-LDF candidate M J Jacob, the two main candidates in the by-election held on March 17. The counting was being held on 14 tables. Of the 183,170 electorates, including 93,245 women voters, 158,055 people cast their votes, registering an all-time record of 86.3 per cent in the constituency.
