District Collector’s son dies in road mishap


KOCHI: Thasleem Sheik, son of Ernakulam District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, died on Friday after he met with a car accident in Bangalore.
The accident took place around 4 pm on Thursday on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway near the Krishnagiri toll plaza.  
Twenty six-year-old Thasleem and his two friends Dilip Rajan, 23, and Shibin Paul, 24, were proceeding towards Bangalore in a car that  was rammed into by a tipper lorry near a U-turn at the toll plaza. The three were returning after meeting a friend in Chennai.
Dilip Rajan from Thrissur died on the spot, while Tasleem was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore. He succumbed to injuries on Friday evening.
Shibin Paul sustained minor injuries.  The mishap took place at the same spot where on Tuesday five members of a family from Kozhikode had died in another car accident. Thasleem, was a software engineer at Tata c in Bangalore after passing out from the TKM Engineering College, Kollam, where his mother Bushara is a lecturer.
He did his schooling from the Kollam Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian School, Kollam. He belonged to the Karikodu Palasherril family in Kollam. The body will be brought to Kerala on Saturday.
