Four contractors arrested on cheating charge

KALPETTA: The police on Friday arrested three building contractors at Pulpally on charges of cheating tribesmen in the construction of houses. Those arrested were identified as Muralidharan,44, of Variakattu; Raveendran, 40, of Pakkunnuveetil; and Surendran, 48, of Basavan Kolly at Pulpally.


The police said the accused had withdrawn Rs 11 lakhs before completing works undertaken at Nadavayal, Padichira, and Pulpally. The police were looking into the role of certain officials as well.
