IUML state general secretaries E T Mohammed Basheer and K P A Majeed, joint secretaries M C Mayin Haji and T P M Sahir had to face the wrath of the party ranks as they came out of the hall after announcing the names of the district office-bearers of the party.
The announcement of the district office-bearers has been hanging fire for the last one month as the issue was taken to the IUML state president.
The party workers who were upset by their leaders not finding a place in the list raised slogans against the state leaders and blocked their way. The car in which they tried to leave the place following the commotion was blocked by the party workers raising slogans against the leaders.
The workers used filthy words against the leaders even as some local leaders tried to pacify the ranks. The sloganeering continued for an hour before the angry workers voluntarily left the place.
Earlier, when the meeting began at the auditorium the list of the office-bearers was read out at the meeting. The IUML state leaders said that the list was prepared by the IUML state president and requested the delegates to ratify the list unanimously.
According to the new list, all the old office-bearers were retained except two general secretaries.
