Mass march soon at Calicut University against VC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Sarvakala Samrakshana Samithi’ which started  functioning at the Calicut University campus, would conduct  a mass march at the University in the third week of March against the undemocratic practices of the Vice Chancellor.
All-India University Employees Confederation alleged that the Calicut University VC Abdul Salam has flout all the democratic principles and created an emergency like situation in the University campus.
“The VC, who suspended the elected Syndicate and cancelled the election process to Senate, turns blind eye to the demands of employees,” said the Confederation office bearers in a press conference here on Wednesday.
In spite of the repeated demands from the Calicut University Employees Union the VC did not look into the problems and grievances of the employees. The demands of the employees like granting of pay revision benefits and its arrears, cancelling of transfers against the precedents, withdrawing cases against employees given by Registar etc were not considered by the VC, they alleged. There will be a public meeting in the University on March 15.
Confederation secretary general M B Sajjan, Samrakshana Samithi convener V Mohanan among others attended the press conference.
