New CBI team to probe Sampath custodial death case

KOCHI: A new CBI team will be entrusted to probe the sensational Sampath custodial death case. The new team has been formed following the death of ASP P G Haridath, in charge of the case. The meet led by CBI joint director O P Malhotra in Kochi decided to shift the officials, who were in the team earlier.


The suicide note of Haridath had the names of some CBI officials and magistrate responsible for his death. The new team will examine the charge sheet first submitted in the case. The police will again question the magistrate and officials. They will first examine the officials’ role in the CBI officer’s death.
