Passport row: Police files report against Kodiyeri’s son

 Thursday, March 15, 2012: The State police have on Thursday filed a report against Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of former Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, stating that he was issued a passport allegedly when he was named an accused in several criminal cases.
The report was filed in the Kerala Lok Ayukta by Kannur SP- Rahul R Nair. The passport was issued when his father Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the Home Minister of the state.
Bineesh secured a passport from Kozhikode passport office in 2007.
Bineesh was given passport as per the report by the then Kannur SP Mathew. He submitted the report stating that there were no cases pending against Bineesh in Kannur. But the major failure from the part of police was that it had not enquired the existence of cases against Bineesh in other districts.
