Piravom: Counting of votes tomorrow


Tuesday, March 20, 2012: Counting of votes for the crucial Piravom bypoll in Ernakulam district will be taken up at the Nirmala Junior School, Muvattuppuzha, on March 21, from 8 a.m. The trend of the poll outcome will be available within an hour.
Arrangements have been made under the supervision of returning officer E R Shobhana, assistant returning officer Aravindakshan Nair and Muvattupuzha tahasildar T S Swarnamma.
In a record in the constituency, 86.3 per cent polling was registered in the crucial bypoll on Saturday, with both the Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led fronts hoping the heavy turnout augurs well for their respective groups.
Both the fronts claimed that the high poll percentage would favour them. LDF candidate-M.J Jacob said that the high voter turn out is a good sign for the LDF and we are very optimistic. Meanwhile UDF candidate-Anoop Jacob said that “victory is certain
