Piravom poll: EC serves notices on UDF, LDF candidates

Thursday, March 08, 2012: The State Election Commission on Thursday served notices on LDF, UDF candidates contesting for the by-elections to the Piravom Assembly constituency in connection with the irregularities in the daily expenses report for the election campaigning.
Anoop Jacob, son of late Minister T.M Jacob, who is a novice in politics, is the UDF candidate, M.J Jacob is the LDF candidate.
The Election Commission also directed the candidates to submit a reply within three days time. The election expenses of the candidates are being calculated by the poll observers appointed by the EC. The notices have been served on the candidates after the EC found out differences in the daily expenses report submitted by the candidates and the poll observers.
