Police driver held for drunken driving

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A law keeper has been arrested for  breaking the law. A driver of the Police Department in the rank of senior civil police officer was caught and suspended for drunken driving, an offence punishable with three years’ imprisonment as per the Motor Vehicles Act recently amended by the Union Government. Satheesh Kumar of AR Camp, Thiruvananthapuram, was suspended by City Police Commissioner T J Jose the other day for drunken driving. Satheesh Kumar had driven the police vehicle carrying the student police cadets for a programme in Thrissur on Saturday.
During the return journey, in Alappuzha, the Mararikulam police stopped the vehicle, following a tip-off that the driver was drunk. He was subjected to medical examination, which proved the allegation.
The suspension followed a primary enquiry report submitted by AR Commandant Bhaskaran.
“A detailed enquiry will be carried out and further action against him would depend on that report,” T J Jose told .
