Police must be adequately equipped

TRIPUNITHURA: The police force in the state must be equipped with adequate apparatus to make them capable of carrying out swift action in any given situation, said Minister for Excise and Ports K Babu.
He was speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony for the Udayamperoor Police Station here on Saturday.
The police station, which is functioning at a rented building in South Paravur now, will be shifted to the new building once the construction work is completed. The Excise Department has allotted 15-acres of land at Udayamperoor for the building.
The minister expressed his happiness over Excise Department’s gesture. “The works will be completed within six months,” he said.
He added that the UDF Government has always been keen to address the problems faced by the police department.
He opined that other departments like Traffic and Excise should also be extended adequate support, so that they can deliver quality services.
City Police Commissioner M R Ajithkumar spoke on the occasion.
