R Selvaraj takes a U-turn, likely to join UDF

Saturday, March 10, 2012: Taking a U-turn on his earlier stand that he would not join the United Democratic Front (UDF), R Selvaraj, who resigned as CPM MLA from Neyyattinakara, today opined that he would take a decision on this after seeking the opinion of his followers.
Selvaraj while announcing his resignation on Friday had told the media here that he will continue his fight against the ruling UDF and it would be suicidal to join the UDF. Selvaraj added that he will decide on his political future after discussing with his colleagues.
Selvaraj had resigned from the House saying he was a victim of ‘factionalism’ in the party. Announcing his resignation to reporters at Neyyattinkara Selvaraj said he was “forced” to take the decision after realising that he would not get “any justice or protection” from the party leadership.
Selvaraj, a second-time MLA, has been a popular leader in Parassala and Neyyattinkara from where he was elected in 2006 and 2011.
