Workers clash at IUML meet
KANNUR: The meeting of district council of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) held here on Saturday to announce its new office-bearers was disrupted and ended up in altercation between rival groups in the party. Trouble started right from the morning when the council meeting began at the Sadhu Kalyanamandapam here on Saturday.
A group of Youth League workers stormed the conference hall questioning the participation of council members from the Azhikode constituency.
P K K Bava, state observer of the party, announced a panel of office-bearers chosen by the mandalam secretaries of the party.
A group of Youth League workers started shouting slogans demanding the ouster of V K Abdulkhader Moulavi from the post of president.
The police entered the conference hall to remove the slogan-shouting Youth League workers from the hall, and this resulted in clash between party workers.
