Have no information about Vigilance examination near Mani’s house: CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that he has no information about vigilance examination near Finance Minister K M Mani’s official residence.

“I have not got any complaint that Vigilance officials went to Mani’s house to take certain measurements. I also don’t know whether tape or rope was used to take measurements. How can I say about things that I don’t know,” he told media persons during Cabinet briefing on Wednesday.

“It was on the basis of news reports that I said that nobody had given statements against Mani. I have been meeting Mani for the past several days for official matters. How can a meeting between a chief minister and finance minister be news?,” he quipped.

When asked about Aranmula airport project, Chandy retorted, “Ask concerned union minister that question. The State government has only one stand always. The previous government had given complete sanction to the Aranmula project. The present government will not oppose it. It is the responsibility of the project developers to get permission of the Centre. Only after that sanction is obtained, the State government will do what is necessary.”

Chief Minister said there have been attempts to delay the Vizhinjam project after creating the impression that a Malaysian company is interested in the project. “It is Kerala’s dream project. There have been some cirses. We have tried our level best to avoid single tender. Further delay in the project will spell doom for the project,” he added.
