VS attends CPM State committee meeting

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State committee meeting started on Saturday. In this first State Committee meeting, being held after the party congress, Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan took part.

New General Secretary Seetharam Yechury and PB member S Ramachandran Pillai will also participate. The main agenda of the congress will be formation of a new secretariat.

VS, who had walked out of Alappuzha party congress, had been avoided from State Committee. He had absented himself from the committee meetings held after that. But today morning he arrived at AKG centre, the party head quarter, as he was specially invited by party leadership. New General Secretary Seetharam Yechury is a VS loyalist and he may have personally invited him.

A decision was reached by Central committee members in the morning on who should be Secretariat members. However, the state committee will have to accept this.

By today evening, it will be known whether VS will be in the party Secretariat.

It is heard that P K Gurudasan will be avoided from the secretariat. Certain Central committee members will also be avoided. The names of new probables making the rounds are M Vijayakumar, T P Ramakrishnan, K Rajagopal, K Radhakrishnan, K Chandran Pillai, K K Shailaja and T N Seema.
