Loco pilots’ strike causes trouble for passengers

KOCHI: Train passengers had a tough time after the loco pilots staged a flash strike in protest against the railways decision to conduct alcohol tests using breath analyzer before the commencement of train services.  Four trains have been cancelled after they announced non-cooperation.

Ernakulam-Palakkad Memu, Ernakulam-Kottayam, Kottayam-Ernakulam Memu and Ernakulam-Kollam Memu are the ones cancelled. Janashatabdi will be delayed, informed the railways.

The problems started after the railway decided to conduct the test using breath analyzer to know if a person is drunk or not. The flash strike started after the supervisors submitted a report to the seniors that the loco pilot of Ernakulam-Kayamkulam passenger and all India loco running staff association secretary P K Varghese disagreed for the breath analyzer test.
