SSLC controversy: Move in League to remove Abdu Rabb

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are hints that there is a move within the Muslim League to remove Abdu Rabb as education minister as he has cut a sorry figure before society and drawn flak from all quarters after a botched-up SSLC exam valuation. It is reported that a group within the League will strongly demand for the removal of Rabb as the minister.

It is rumoured that if Rabb is removed, he will be replaced by Abdussamad Samadani. Meanwhile, K N A Khadar MLA coming into the scene with criticism against Rabb and his ministry is also notable.

The MLA’s criticism went public through some of the articles he had written for newspapers. “What was the need for exam if all who wrote the exam were to win,” the MLA had quipped. In reply to this, Rabb said that he had not deliberately given marks to anyone and the MLA has freedom to speak his mind.

League leadership’s meeting will be held at Kozhikode League house on May 27. Besides Sate office-bearers and district presidents, MLAs have also been invited for the meeting. In all probability, Rabb will face criticism at the meeting. However, certain leaders say the reports that there is anti-Rabb move in the party is wrong. Muslim community and a group in the league will also come to support the minister

DPI slams minister

Meanwhile, Director of Public Education has criticised the education minister. His explanation is that flaw in evaluation camp, i.e. in the data entry operation had resulted in the wrong results. DPI will soon submit a report to the government in this regard.
