KOCHI: Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha coordinator M Geethanandan has said that he will neither oppose nor support Adivasi leader C K Janu, who will be contesting as the NDA candidate from Sultan Bathery.
At a press conference here, he said she had been asked to relinquish Gothra Mahasabha chief’s post.
“The Gothra Mahasabha disapproves of Janu joining the BJP-led NDA. At the same time, Right and Left fronts didn’t have the broadmindedness to accept Janu. They went after film stars and didn’t lent ears to what Janu had to say,” he said.
Geethanandan said: “What UDF and LDF tried was to help and protect encroachers’ lobby. Janu is a representation of the aspirations of 40 gothras (tribes). We shall accept her if she returns from the BJP. We shall support leaders who have led independent people’s agitations. We’ll support Pempillai Orumai in Devikulam and environmentalist John Peruvanthanam in Perumbavur.”
