Thursday, November 24, 2011: Government Chief Whip P.C. George today opined that Former minister and CPM state committee member A.K. Balan, MLA, cannot claim to belong to the schedule caste category.Speaking to the reporters while addressing a press meet here on Thursday, George also demanded that the Paravan community that got into the schedule caste list should be omitted from the category.
George alleged that Paravan community got into the list undeservedly and is claiming the job opportunities of other schedule caste communities.
Opposition LDF in Kerala has been demanding that George should be booked under Scheduled Caste Prevention of Atrocities Act for his alleged casteist remarks against Balan.
The Kerala Congress-M leader on October 27 had made an allegedly casteist remark against CPM A.K. Balan at a public meeting in Pathanapuram in Kollam district.
