Wednesday, November 09, 2011: According to a recent survey
conducted here the prices of the essential life saving medicines have
sky-rocketed in Kerala.
Report suggests that prices of the medicines used for
diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol have virtually
doubled making it almost impossible for the common man to buy such medicines.
The poor and the downtrodden especially are finding it
difficult to buy such medicines, when they deserve to get it free if not at a
subsidised rate. It is alleged that prices have been hiked in order to sabotage
the state government’s attempt to provide life-saving drugs at reasonable
prices.
The state government had recently announced a tax
exemption to life saving drugs.
