Seven more held in Kerala nun’s murder in Jharkhand
Sunday, November 20, 2011: Seven more persons have been detained and a police officer has been suspended in the brutal murder of nun-cum-activist Valsha John in Jharkhand’s Pakur district, police said.
Around 40 people Tuesday night raided Pachuwara village in Pakur district, around 500 km from Ranchi, and hacked John, 52, to death. Valsa’s brutal murder raised many questions and only an independent probe can bring out the truth.
A native of Ernakulam in Kerala, she had been staying at Pachwara village for several years and spearheaded an anti-displacement movement against a coal firm in Pakur’s Amrapara block.
