HC warns public against mindless waste disposal
Monday, November 21, 2011: The Kerala High Court today ruled that stringent action would be taken against those who carelessly dispose the waste materials and garbage in public places.
Court has also instructed the local self government organizations to initiate action against the public who violate such norms. This crucial verdict was pronounced by a division bench comprising of Justice CN Ramachandran Nair while hearing some petitions filed in connection with the waste management in the state.
The unhealthy practice of carelessly throwing away waste on roads and lanes by the residents is on the rise in state. The order comes close on the heels of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) blaming the Kerala State Pollution Control Board, the urban local bodies and state government for not managing the waste generated in the country’s most literate state.
