Thursday, November 03, 2011: The 10-day Alpasi
festival at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple will conclude with the
traditional arattu ceremony here today.
The head of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore,
Uthradam Tirunal Marthanda Varma, carrying the traditional `udavaal’ in his
hands will escort the deities of Sri Padmanabhaswami, Thiruvambadi Krishna and
Narasimhamoorthy.
The ceremonial `Pallivetta’ held prior to the `arat’ was
held in front of the Sundaravilasom palace inside the Fort on Wednesday night.
After the `arat’, Uthradam Tirunal Marthanda Varma will receive the deities in
front of the western entrance of the temple, marking the culmination of the
festival.
