Thursday, November 03, 2011: The CPM opposition today
demanded that they be allowed to move an adjournment motion in connection with
the controversial remark by Minister KB Ganesh Kumar and Chief Whip PC George
against CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan and CPM MLA AK Balan.
Replying to the adjournment motion moved by Deputy leader of
opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy opined that he
had not yet received any complaints regarding the alleged casteist remarks by
Govt. Chief Whip against Balan.
Following this the Speaker G Karthikeyan denied the
permission to entertain the adjournment motion and the Assembly was adjourned
till 11 am amid the LDF protests.
LDF opposition today protested during question hour session
in the Kerala Assembly in connection with the unruly remarks. The opposition
members raised placards demanding removal of Chief Whip and the Minister who
made led comments while attending a public meeting in Pathanapuram.
The opposition members have not disrupted the Assembly proceedings
until now. Meanwhile the LDF has decided to boycott all official functions
involving State Government Chief Whip PC George and Forest Minister KB Ganesh
Kumar.
PC George on October 27 had allegedly made a casteist remark
against Balan at a public meeting in Pathanapuram in Kollam district. It was
the same meeting where Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar (Kerala Congress-B) had
fulminated in vulgar language against Achuthanandan.
Kumar had earlier expressed regret over his speech after LDF
and its feeder outfits came out in strong protest over his lewd comments
against the 88-year-old CPI (M) leader.
Meanwhile the LDF meeting convened here has decided to seek
legal redressal against Government Chief Whip PC George for his casteist remarks
against MLA and CPM state secretariat member AK Balan.
