‘Kiliroor case victim died due to negligence in treatment’

Tuesday, November 22, 2011: Dr Kuruvila, former head of medical college gastroenterology department, appointed by the state government to monitor the treatment of Kiliroor victim Shari, told the court that she died allegedly due to negligence by the hospital authorities.
He informed the CBI court that his statement was wrongly registered and that her death was due to the defect occurred when a laparoscopy was conducted on her.
Dr Kuruvila said that when he came to examine her on October 30 in 2004, she had already undergone 77 days of treatment. The doctor had earlier said that she died due to the two injuries that occurred when the laparoscopy was conducted. He also revealed that the visit of a VIP was sensationalised in order to cover the defect.
