Monday, 28 November 2011: Poojappura Central Prison was launched an innovative scheme today to supply chapathis to different institutions in the capital city.Under the scheme chapathis prepared by jail inmates will be distributed in the city through a distribution system on commercial basis.
This facility was inaugurated by Tamil actor Cheran at Poojappura central jail. The cost of each chapatis was Rs 2 each, normally a chapati costs of Rs.6 each at eateries outside.
A brand new chapatti-maker has been installed in the jail at a cost of Rs.2.64 lakh, it can make chapatis around 20,000.
