(BJP) today condemned the Kerala High Court verdict sentencing CPM leader MV
Jayarajan to six months imprisonment in a contempt of Court case.
Speaking to the reporters here on Wednesday, BJP state president
V Muraleedharan added that the Court had behaved hatefully to Jayarajan by not
granting him time to approach Court.
Meanwhile CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and deputy
leader of Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today visited M V Jayarajan, who was
sentenced to six months RI in contempt of Court case.
Pinarayi said they would stage a demonstration in front of
the Kerala High Court on Monday as a protest against the Court verdict against
Jayarajan.
The Court found Jayarajan guilty of criminal contempt and
sent him to jail for six months’ simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs
2000. The High Court had initiated suo motu contempt of court proceedings
against Jayarajan after he made critical comments against judges for banning
roadside meetings during a public speech in Kannur on June 26 last year.
The court, after examining available documents, video
clippings and submissions made by amicus curiae, concluded that there was
contempt in his remarks.
