Bangalore blast: One accused held in Kunnamkulam


THRISSUR: An accused in the April 17 Bangalore bomb blast near BJP headquarters has been arrested at Kunnamkulam in Thrissur, Kerala on Saturday. He is identified as Zulfikar Ali (22) of Ukkadam in Coimbatore.

Zulfikar Ali has been hiding at the house of the relative of his friend Muhammed Shameer in Pattikkara. Shameer is also under arrest. The police said that Zulfikar is a member of terrorist organization Al Ummah.

The blast was centered at Coimbatore. It is from Coimbatore that the vehicle and other equipment for the blast were arranged.

Hitherto, the Bangalore Police and Tamil Nadu Police have arrest 11 persons in connection with the case. Among the accused, five are natives of Coimbatore. Zulfikar was spotted from Kerala following the information given by these accused.

In the blast, 16 people--11 KSRP personnel, five civilians, including two students were injured.

The low intensity blast was trigged by ammonium nitrate packed explosives kept in a motorcycle between two cars.
