VS to continue as opposition leader, says Karat


NEW DELHI: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan will not be removed from the post of opposition leader, said CPM general secretary Prakash Karat.

Briefing reporters here, he said many issues including the removal of VS had appeared before the central leadership.

There is no need to explain more on it as politburo’s decision was reported by the media, Karat repeatedly asked about it.

The politburo had approved the action against the personal staff members of VS. When asked whether they should resign, he said they are only party members and is not part of any administration.

The investigation conducted by the party in the murder case of T P Chandrasekharan is almost complete. As the case is under the consideration of the court, more cannot be revealed on it.

A six-member panel consisting of politburo members has been appointed to examine the allegations levelled by VS. No time frame has been fixed to submit the report, he said.
